  9. This is the READ.ME file for the (unregistered) version of Telix 3.15
  10. posted for BBS distribution. Telix 3.15 as posted for BBS distribution
  11. consists of the following three ZIP archives:
  12.  
  13.         TLX315-1.ZIP    Executable and support files.
  14.  
  15.         TLX315-2.ZIP    MODEMCFG.EXE (modem configuration program),
  16.                         CS.EXE (script compiler), Host Mode script source
  17.                         files, and dialing directory conversion program.
  18.                         Also TELIX315.NEW, describing new features in v3.15.
  19.                         Also TELIX.DOC, the main Telix reference manual.
  20.  
  21.         TLX315-3.ZIP    SALT.DOC, the SALT script language ref. manual.

  23. Note that these ZIP files are encoded with an Authenticity Verification
  24. number. If you use PKZIP 1.10 or later to extract from thse archives,
  25. PKZIP should display the symbol -AV beside each filename, and should
  26. finish with the following message:

  30. Note that while the Telix documentation has been re-formatted and
  31. cleaned up to some extent, the contents have not changed significantly
  32. since v3.10. All additions are described in TELIX315.NEW, so if you
  33. printed out the manual(s) for v3.10 to 3.12 you do not have to do so
  34. again for this release.

  106. The file TELIX315.NEW describes new features in this version of Telix.
  107.  
  108. To start off you should make a copy of all the files, for safe-keeping.
  109. Hard disk users should create a TELIX directory and copy all the files
  110. into it. Floppy disk (360k) users should put the contenets of the first
  111. archive onto one disk, and optionally put the script compiler (CS.EXE)
  112. from the second archive onto that disk as well. That might leave things
  113. a bit cramped though. If there is a space problem, keep in mind that
  114. script source files (*.SLT) and the script compiler do not have to stay
  115. on your main Telix disk.  With these files on another disk, there should
  116. be plenty of space.

  118. The best way to continue is by printing out the documentation which can
  119. be done by using the DOS copy command (at the DOS prompt)to copy the
  120. file(s) to the printer, as follows:
  121.  
  122.      copy TELIX.DOC prn
  123.      copy SALT.DOC prn
  124.  
  125. Once the manual has finished printing, see the section called 'Getting 
  126. Started'.

  129. IMPORTANT: Note that as mentioned in LICENSE.DOC, printed manuals for
  130. this version of Telix will only be available after April 30, '91, and
  131. any orders requesting a printed manual will be held until that time.

  133. The Telix documentation is formatted to use 66 lines/page, as supported
  134. by most printers. Many laser printers print only 60 lines/page by
  135. default. Running the LASER66.COM program included will set up an HP
  136. Laserjet or compatible laser printer to print 66 lines/page, and will
  137. also allow it to print IBM lindrawing characters, which are used in the
  138. documentation.
